Hershey & Eddy
Annabelle

Annabelle is a sweet mare that just needed a new home. She arrived on 6/26/08 and while she wasn't to sure about being around other horses at first, has quickly made a lot of new friends. We will be evaluating her talents and she should be able to begin loving on kids soon.
Blaze & Dolly

These two were rescued on 5/9/08 from a makeshift and unsafe home that had knee deep mud and surrendered by their owners. They are both healthy, doing great and keeping Suzy company in the isolation pen and pasture. Blaze is a halter broke little purebred Arabian gelding that available for adoption. Dolly needs to put on some weight but once she is able to join the regular heard she'll be evaluated to see if her temperament fits with our youth program. More information coming soon!
Suzy
At the Nebraska Horse Expo. someone alerted us about Suzy. They said she lived in horrible conditions, was in bad shape, and needed help. Once we went and checked on her we knew he was right, and the sooner something was done the better! Within a couple of days we were able to talk the owner into surrendering her and she now calls the L5 home. When we pointed her towards the trailer, she almost ran in. Suzy didn't known where she was going, but she knew she wanted to escape that place.
Besides being underweight and worm infested, this poor girl had not only foundered, but had not had her hooves clipped in many years.
No, she's not wearing a halter here. It had been on her so tight for so long that there was no hair left underneath the straps. Her front legs are so full of cuts and scares from the old field fencing and barbed wire laying around on the ground of her old corral, that she doesn't have any hair from her knee down. There are several other health related issues she is working through, but within days of arriving at the ranch, the vacant look she had in her eyes, like she had given up on life was gone. She is the most gentle and sweet horse I have ever come across and little by little she is healing.
Herbie
Herbie joined the ranch in December from Hooves and Paws Rescue in Glenwood, IA. He is a handsome Palamino with tremendous spunk and personality. He stands about 14.2 hands and is 17 yrs old.
-Update- Herbie has found a great forever home with several children to love him.
